The Global Fund To Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria"s Director for the Africa Unit Fareed Abdullah said during a news briefing at the conference, "There is no[t] enough money on the table for antiretroviral (ARV) treatments. It is a massive conundrum. The funding gap would start to hit in the period going forward."

Data Show Wisconsin Has Lowest AIDS Death Rate In Nation, Group Says
AIDS Re Center of Wisconsin Chief Operating Officer Mike Gifford said that Wisconsin has the lowest AIDS death rate in the nation, WPR News reports. Gifford said that CDC data indicate that Wisconsin and Minnesota have one AIDS death annually for every 100,000 people. He credits a strong system of health care professionals and state and private support for the low death rate, but noted that hundreds of people living with HIV in Wisconsin are not getting the services they need (Simonson, WPR News, 6/18).

Diabetes UK Showcases User Involvement Initiative At Healthcare Innovation Expo

Diabetes UK will attend the prestigious Innovation Expo at London"s ExCeL on 18 to 19 June. In June 2008, Lord Darzi published the Next Stage Review which identified the need to accelerate the adoption and diffusion of innovation across the NHS.
